And Now for some news ….

Gut Microbiome and Visceral Fat

Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. lactis GCL2505 (B. lactis GCL2505) is able to survive passage through the intestine and then proliferate, leading to an increase in the amount of gut bifidobacteria.

In a study published in the journal Bioscience of Microbiota Food and Health, the Authors evaluated the impact of B. lactis GCL2505 on abdominal visceral fat storage in overweight and mildly obese Japanese adults.

This clinical study was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group comparative trial performed for 12 weeks.

The study concluded that the results indicate that B. lactis GCL2505 reduces abdominal visceral fat, a key factor associated with metabolic disorders.

This finding suggests that this probiotic strain can potentially serve as a specific functional food to achieve visceral fat reduction in overweight or mildly obese individuals.

As always, discuss all Nutritional recommendations with your Qualified Health Care Provider.

Low Back Pain Amongst Health Professionals

Work-related musculoskeletal system diseases are commonly observed among nurses, physiotherapists, dentists, and dietitians.

The objective of a recent study published in the Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, was to assess working postures of nurses, physiotherapists, dentists and dietitians, to identify whether low back pain (LBP) is present, and to put forth the correlation between LBP, working posture, and other factors.

Twenty seven physiotherapists, 34 nurses, 30 dentists, and 16 dieticians were included. Impairment ratings of cases with LBP were analysed with Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (Quebec).

Working postures were analysed with Owako Working Posture Analysis System.

Results of the study found that LBP was observed in 70.09% of healthcare professionals. Of the individuals suffering from LBP, 57.2% were working with a risky posture. 40.63% of individuals without LBP were using risky working postures.

The study concluded that considering that head-neck and trunk postures are changeable factors that are among the factors affecting LBP, correcting the working posture gains importance.
